About A Native is a personal blog about Indigenous lived experiences—growing up on the reservation, navigating life away from home, family, culture, grief, identity, resilience, and everything in between. This site is a place to share my experiences in my own words and show that Native life is not one story, one stereotype, or one experience.
I will cover topics from summers on the rez, dealing with culture shock, pursuing higher education, intergenerational trauma, and much more. There will be some hard-hitting subjects, but without darkness, there cannot be light. I know some things may be hard to read, but it is my life. Imagine how hard it was to deal with those situations.
I hope that this blog will bring clarity, compassion, and respect for Indigenous people. We are not just a story in the books, a costume on the shelves, or a character in your movies. We are real people with real emotions, traumas, and victories, and we are still here.
